Maasai Mara jungle (maasai mara jungle) is where gold meets silver! Named after the locals who leave in the reserve. Maasai Mara Jungle
Covering an area of around 1,510 square kilometers, the Maasai Mara jungle has diversified vegetation that is distributed across the reserve from open savannah grassland to the thick forests at the shores of the Mara River. The Mara-Serengeti ecosystem which covers over 30,000 square kilometers that are covered by savannah grassland running from Masai mara national reserve to the Northern Tanzania in Serengeti National Park. The Maasai Mara jungle keeps changing as the soil patterns change to from far North of Maasai Mara to the Southern part as one approaches Lake Victoria shores.
The Maasai Mara jungle is subdivided into conservancies that are managed by locals within the park. Its only Masai Mara in Kenya that the management of the reserve is done by locals as the government oversees on the management for clear accountability. The largest Conservancy is the Mara triangle that is found in the center of the reserve running towards the mighty Mara River. This conservancy has every good varied landscape with both grass and thickets as the soil is good loam soil formed out of volcanic activity. The current challenge with Maasai Mara triangle conservancy is accommodation as the only luxury accommodation is Mara Serena Lodge.
Guests enjoy being around this conservancy especially during the migration of the wildebeest. Other animals viewed are lions, leopards, zebras, hyenas, and others. Wildlife viewing is excellent at this conservancy since the wildlife is more permanent.
Another conservancy that forms the Maasai Mara jungle is Mara North conservancy that occupies more than 30,000 hectares of land. The conservancy is famous with the leopard Gorge where the leopards produce. It is in this area where leopards are easily seen at all times. On the East, you find the Olare Conservancy which is famous for its big cats along with side large herds of African Elephants.
On the East of Olare Motorogi Conservancy lies Mara Naboisho conservancy a home of large numbers of Giraffes, Elephants, and wildebeest. The Maasai Mara jungle is a birding paradise especially in Mara Naiboisho conservancy that homes a rare bird species that cannot be seen anywhere. For example, Pigmy Falcon, White-headed Buffalo-weaver, Bush pipits, white Crowned shrike and many more.
