Since 2011, Admassu Tadesse, an Ethiopian national, has been President and Chief Executive Officer of the Trade and Development Bank (TDB Group, former PTA Bank), and the COMESA Trade and Development Bank (Eastern and Southern Africa). He was previously Executive Vice-President of the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), whose headquarters are located in Johannesburg. At the time, he was responsible for international financing and corporate strategy. Admassu Tadesse is an administrator of various international funds and organizations, such as the Association of African Development Finance Institutions (AADFI), the Investment and Support Fund for Businesses in Africa (FISEA-PROPARCO), and Zep-Re (insurance branch of the former PTA Bank). He obtained a Master’s at the London School of Economics (LSE) and an MBA from Wits Business School in South Africa. He also studied at Harvard Business School (USA) and at the University of Western Ontario (Canada). He has sat on several boards of directors and worked for a number of foundations and industrial organizations in Africa and at the international level. He has lived abroad for over 35 years, in a dozen or so countries on three continents, including 10 years in the USA, 10 years in South Africa, and five yearsinKenyaandBurundi.
