Happy Wednesday folks! The Nairobi Arboretum Fashion Portraits

Today’s blog is a portrait shoot I did for Vera Owade, a Kenyan Gospel and worship singer. We did the shoot during evening hours to avoid sun harshness and hence to be able to control the ambient light.

From Vera’s blog:

Born in a Yala, Siaya District, Vera Owade, is an anointed gospel psalmist, worshiper and songwriter. Her enticing music, which is a blend of Kenyan dialect in praise and worship and a twist of South African Zulu and Sutu dialect. She began her music career in 2010 after 5 years of exploration and searching her soul for her spiritual gifts.

Model: Vera Owade
Make-Up: Valary Mdeizi of Mdeizi’s Makeup Affair
Location: The Nairobi Arboretum Park

When virtue and modesty enlighten her charms, the lustre of a beautiful woman is brighter than the stars of heaven, and the influence of her power it is in vain to resist. Akhenaton

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries or the way she combs her hair. Audrey Hepburn

People are like stained – glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

“[Piper] rushed to get dressed. By the time she got up on deck, the others had already gathered—all hastily dressed except for Coach Hedge, who had pulled the night watch.
Frank’s Vancouver Winter Olympics shirt was inside out. Percy wore pajama pants and a bronze breastplate, which was an interesting fashion statement. Hazel’s hair was all blown to one side as though she’d walked through a cyclone; and Leo had accidentally set himself on fire. His T-shirt was in charred tatters. His arms were smoking.”
Rick Riordan, The Mark of Athena
